Loss of a Child
The moment that I knew you had died,
My heart split in two,
The one side filled with memories,
The other died with you.
I often lay awake at night,
When the world is fast asleep,
And take a walk down memory lane,
With tears upon my cheek.
Remembering you is easy,
I do it every day,
But missing you is a heartache,
That never goes away.

The loss of Amanda
The moment my phone rang
and I heard the sad news
of your car wreck I thought
my heart was broken but nothing
prepared me. I wanted to be by your
bedside but couldn't be there.
I sat glued to the phone waiting
for the next update on your condition
It seemed like days between each call.
After many hours I was able to make it
to the hospital, 55 minutes before
the sad news was broken.
Angela was the first one to come up
to me and gave me the doctors sad news.
I wanted to take her in my arms and
hold her forever for she had just lost
one of her sisters. Her heart filled
with pain, tears covering her beautiful
face, I hugged her and said I'm so sorry,
and if theres anything I can do just let
me know. Knowing all the while theres
nothing one can do.
So I just stood there in shock and
watched Angela as she walked off
to go find your baby girls. All these
knife stabbing pains taking over my
heart beat. I couldn't believe what
I was just told. I would have much
rather went before you so your
girls could be spared the pain they are
going through.
I don't know how Kim and I got home
that afternoon for neither one of us was
in any kind of shape to be driving.
Poor Kim was driving around
trying to find her way out of the hospital
parking lot and onto 85. Not sure where
we were headed but it wasn't toward Mauldin.
The days go by and it's still like a
bad dream and we're all going to wake
up only to realize that its
all been a bad dream.
